About Scripture Union

Scripture Union was founded in 1867 in England. There are now more than 130 movements in over 120 countries.

We work with the churches in making God's Good News known to children, young people and families. It has always been our focus to help people everywhere to read and understand the Bible - A total of 3.4 million copies of Bible reading material are produced annually. Bible reading notes appear in 54 languages and Bible reading cards in 83 languages. Our vision is that believing Christians ought to be the means of transforming the communities in which they live, and so we encourage people to become committed members of their churches, and servants of a world in need.

Our movements are united by our Aims, Belief and Working Principles. Click here to download a copy.

Scripture Union worldwide is organised into seven Regions, of which Britain and Ireland is one. As a mission priority in this Region, we support SU's developing work in the Former Soviet Republics and Israel.

The other six Regions with their contacts are:

Africa - Regional Director: David Gichung’wa
Americas - Regional Director: Paul Owen
East and West Asia - Regional Director: Koh Gim Lam
Europe - Regional Director Peter Hoppler www.su-europe.org
Pacific - Regional Director Lloyd Carter
South Asia - Regional Director Ravi Navaratnam
